Google doesn’t use the keywords meta tag in web Search

Straight from the Matt Cutts Google Blog, Google does not use the keywords meta tag in their web search. What does this mean for websites that are image-focussed and not contstantly updated?
For Smaller Companies relying on google to get customers is probably not such a great idea now and should move into SEM.
